Quango Stands for ‘Quasi-Autonomous Non-Government Organisation’ – an organisation is funded by taxpayer money, but not directly controlled by the British government.

Queen’s Bench Division The division of the High Court that deals with contract law, libel and personal injury cases, and also supervises the lesser courts.

Queen’s Counsel A status bestowed on eminent barristers in honour of their professional accomplishments and expertise.

Queen’s Evidence Evidence for the prosecution given by an individual who was involved in the crime, either as an active participant or accomplice.

Quiet enjoyment A tenant’s right to live peacefully in a rented dwelling without undue intrusion or restriction on their freedom being imposed upon them by the landlord.

Quorum The minimum number of people required to be present for proceedings to be considered valid.
